Charles Montgomery is a Professor Emeritus from the English, Linguistics, Interpretation, and Translation Department at Dongguk University in Seoul Korea. He worked at Dongguk University for 7 years, during which he also worked with the Literature Translation Institute of Korea, the Korean National Museum, South Korean PEN, and other institutions, on various translation and marketing projects. He has written for a wide variety of print media in Korea, and has had segments on local TV and Arirang Radio (Korea’s international radio station). He currently writes for the Los Angeles Review of Books Korea Blog as well as Seoul Magazine. In 2012 he was named an honorary citizen of Seoul for his work on awareness of Korean literature in translation.

Qualifications:

• Seven years experience as college district Marketing Director and Web-coordinator. Organized, wrote, edited for print, radio, television, and web venues.

• Extensive experience with Social Networking tools including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest Tumblr, Twitter, WordPress (and associated templates, plugins, and SEO tools), Wikipedia, Amazon, and Goodreads.

• Familiarity with software including the Microsoft suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, Final Cut Pro, and others.

• Eight years experience teaching and testing second language students English Conversation, Reading, Listening, Writing, Discussion and Presentation, Speech and Debate, and translation practica at the B.A., M.A., and PhD levels.

• Thirteen years experience in English Language instruction at the College level including writing classes, development of online classes, creation of multimedia tools for instruction and testing.

B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies (Emphasis on Writing). New York Institute of Technology. Degree awarded Fall 2005.
